| Subject: UPDATE: No longer considered an exploit - Exploit with Speed and Charisma Mon Feb 21, 2011 11:26 am | |
| Hello all, I have found what appears to be a bug with Speed and Charisma that leads to VERY FAST standing grapples and I need other people's help determining whether or not it is really an exploit and how exactly to enable/disable the exploit.
So this is what happens, you set your character's Speed and Charisma both to 100 and save. Then you go back in to edit your character but lower his Speed and Charisma (to below 85?) and now your grapples will suddenly be VERY QUICK. I originally thought this was an intentional effect that Speed had on your character but I discovered that assumption was incorrect when I was messing around with 100 Speed/Charisma and my grapples were normal speed. Then, when I went to set them back to normal (80 Speed, 40 50 Charisma), I was suddenly grappling very quickly. If this was an intentional effect of having high speed or charisma than my character would have the quick grapple at 100/100 and not after I set it much lower.
From what I could tell, changing your attributes again and saving the game seemed to undo this. Unfortunately, I can't really reproduce this bug consistently so I have a feeling I'm missing a step and that is why I need people's help figuring out what causes this to happen.
With all of the above considered, I am currently ruling this an EXPLOIT and is considered cheating until proven otherwise. If your character standing grapples more quickly than everyone else, change his attributes back and forth until he DOESN'T quick grapple anymore (verify in Practice Mode) and his stats are the way you want them to be. If you are facing someone who grapples extremely fast (it's really hard to miss), please tell them to read this post and fix it.

| I think the speed of the grapples verify on the grapple attribute? I may be wrong but that's what I'm guessing. My Speed and Charisma rate is at 95 I think, So does this still affect me? | |

I don't think this is true, Cody. While I was messing around with stats I never even changed my grapple but I got the quick grapple bug twice. Also, the bug isn't simply having high Speed and Charisma. In fact, you can get the quick grapple with really low Speed and Charisma. The bug just involves messing around with those stats. This only affects you because your character does this quick grapple deal but not because of his attributes.

| After some more tests, I found that Evan Bourne also has this quick grapple. I took a look at his stats and didn't see anything out of the ordinary except high speed so I decided to go a little further on testing this and realized there was actually an error in the way I tested it. The practice mode does not update when you change your character stats from the superstar management screen. This lead to the discovery that this is in fact determined by Speed, you just need to go into a real game to test it out. At 90 Speed your Grapple will be very quick.
This is now considered LEGAL. Sorry to anyone that changed their character. You may change it back now.
